August 7, 2008 Dear Representative Szollosi, On behalf of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Agriculture for Good Government Political Action Committee, I am pleased to Inform you that you have received the “2008 Friend of Agriculture” designation for your strong support of Ohio agriculture. Ohio’s 78,000 farms are the backbone of the state’s $93 billion agricultural industry, which employs one out of seven Ohioans in the state’s leading industry. Ensuring a safe, affordable and widely available food supply is a goal you have helped farmers attain.
As you may know, incumbent legislators are rated on a “Key Vote” voting system. We distribute oversized post cards before key legislative votes on issues such as eminent domain, Clean Ohio, biofuels, bioproducts, line fence legislation, energy legislation, legislation creating Ohio’s first agriculture license plate, etc. For a complete list of this session’s rate votes, goes to: www.ofbfaction.com. Local Farm Bureau volunteers interview candidates in open seats. They select a “Friend of Agriculture” based on pre-screening surveys and the interview. Please feel free to use the “Friend of Agriculture” designation in your campaign as you feel appropriate and helpful. For our part, we will be listing your “Friend of Agriculture” status in our election guide, which will be mailed to more than 60,000 farm families in mid October. You will also be listed as a “Friend of Agriculture” on OFBF-AGGPAC’s website: www.farmvotesmatter.org. Enclosed please find an “Ohio Ag Facts” pocket card to use along the campaign trail.
